Studio Note #69: Without Feedback.

Now we wait.

There’s a particular kind of work I’ve been struggling with lately.

The kind that doesn’t tell you if it’s working.

You put something out. Reach out to someone. Follow up. Make another connection. Have another conversation.

Then…nothing.

Not necessarily rejection. Not failure. Just no real feedback yet.

That’s a difficult place to operate because results usually help us decide what to do next. When something works, you do more of it. When it doesn’t, you adjust.

But what do you do when you simply don’t know yet?

I think my tendency is to start questioning the work. Change the approach. Try something else. Spread my attention around looking for something that gives me a faster signal.

When maybe the thing I actually need to do is keep going.

The payoff doesn’t necessarily arrive on the same day as the effort.

Sometimes not even close.

There’s a point where you’ve done all the thinking you can do and the only way to find out if something works is to give it enough time to work.

I’m starting to think that’s what diligence really looks like.

Continuing without the reassurance.
