Studio Note #70: You Built the Room.

You built the room. We think that should count for something.

We’ve been thinking a lot lately about how businesses grow through other people.

Introductions. Referrals. Communities. Relationships.

Some of those communities have taken years to build.

Someone brought the first few people together. They kept the conversation going when there wasn’t much of one. They moderated the bullshit. They answered questions. They invited more people in. Eventually, they built something people actually pay attention to.

That has value.

A lot of businesses are perfectly comfortable benefiting from those things without really considering the value of the person who created the opportunity in the first place.

We’re trying something different with Vendorfied.

We recently built an affiliate program around the Vendorfied Network for people who already manage communities of contractors and business owners.

The idea is pretty simple.

If you introduce your community to something that genuinely benefits them, and that introduction creates business for us, you should participate in the upside.

Not because we bought access to your audience.

Because you helped create the opportunity.

The best partnerships work when everybody has a reason for them to work.
