Studio Note #68: What Breaks First?
Growth finds the weak spot.
We recently had a roundtable discussion in our Firestorm group with a member whose business is growing.
That sounds like the good part.
But growth has created a whole new list of problems. Developing SOPs. Training new people. Hiring. Figuring out what can be delegated and what still needs their attention.
It made me think about a pretty simple question:
If your workload doubled tomorrow, what’s the first thing that would break?
Your process?
Your ability to respond to clients?
Quality?
Your team?
You?
Whatever the answer is probably tells you more about what needs your attention than another growth plan does.
There’s a point where growth stops being about doing more and starts being about building a business that can handle more.
More people require more structure.
More clients expose more inefficiencies.
More opportunity makes the gaps harder to ignore.
Sometimes the best way to figure out what needs to change next is to imagine getting exactly what you’ve been working toward.
