Studio Note #63: Five Percent Everywhere.
A little in everything can still feel like nothing.
I’ve spent most of this week giving five percent to everything.
A little work on this client. A little on that one. Fix something on a website. Send a quote. Work on some outreach. Jump back into another project. Answer an email. Remember the thing I was supposed to do before I started doing the other thing.
I’m working all day.
And somehow, at the end of it, I feel like I didn’t get anything done.
That’s the problem with five percent everywhere. There’s effort going out in every direction, but nothing gets enough of it to feel finished.
And apparently, I need finished.
Not because everything needs to be checked off immediately. But because finishing something gives you a little evidence that you’re moving. When everything is sitting at 40, 60 or 80 percent, all you see are open loops.
This week has been a lot of open loops.
The strange part is, I know things are moving. Work is getting done. Clients are getting attention. The business is moving forward.
It just doesn’t feel like it.
Maybe five percent everywhere eventually adds up.
Right now, it mostly feels like five percent of me is everywhere too.
